The candidate will be required to develop a project focused on the role of microglia in modulating behavior and cognition in response to stress. The main objective is to identify the mechanisms of action in microglia of the glucocorticoid receptor, which is activated in response to stress. This project will involve molecular, behavioral, and functional studies.

A 2-year postdoctoral position is available in our lab to study the role and therapeutic potential of genes that are strongly associated with neuronal age-acceleration or with anti-aging neurocompensatory mechanisms in repeat expansion disorders such as Huntington?s disease.

The research will be conducted within the Mechanisms of Adaptive Processes in Brain Circuits group at IINS, part of the Bordeaux Neurocampus.

The recruited person will join the project on the release of hormones, neuropeptides, and neurotransmitters by exocytosis, which is mediated by a vesicular fusion process whose mechanisms are well established.

Analysis of mechanotransduction mediated by the periodic axonal cytoskeleton: Application of different treatments on neurons (drugs that disrupt different transduction pathways, protein depletion) and analysis of the impact on the nanoscopic organisation of the axonal cytoskeleton before and after mechanical stimulation, mainly using super-resolution imaging.

The candidate will be involved in analyzing data to characterize brain dynamics during memory task performance and sleep. Good knowledge in electrophysiology in freely behaving rodents is necessary (ideally, competence in animal experiments).

The postdoctoral researcher will study the molecular mechanisms that control the organisation and molecular composition of hippocampal synapses in the context of synaptic plasticity. In particular, he will study the role of local synaptic receptor degradation mechanisms and the role of cytoskeleton-related proteins, and will examine how these molecular actors contribute to the molecular and functional diversification of synapses.
