DETAILS OF THE OFFER | Working place: Grenoble Institute of Neuroscience / BELIN’s TEAM Missions: We are looking for a motivated Postdoc to work on axon regeneration and protein synthesis regulation mechanisms. Our recent work identified molecules of interest that promote central and peripheral nervous systems regeneration through specific modulation of the ribosome (Decourt et al PLOS BIOL 2023; Schaeffer et al., NEURON 2023). We aim now to decipher the precise involvement of these molecules, particularly on protein synthesis regulation. These results will allow us to better understand fundamental mechanisms of axon regeneration and propose new therapeutic strategies to overcome CNS injuries. The post-doctoral position is funded for 2 years through an ANR Grant. However, applications for competitive fellowships will be strongly encouraged during the time of the contract. The selected candidate will join Stephane Belin’s team at the Grenoble Institute of Neuroscience and will have the opportunity to collaborate with the group of Mario Pende (Necker Institute, Paris) who is partner of the project. The Belin’s team (team Translation regulation in normal and pathological conditions) works on the molecular mechanisms of nervous system regeneration and neuroprotection. We have a specific focus on the role of the translational machinery on protein translation regulation during these processes. The team develops and uses state of the art molecular and cellular approaches, biochemistry (focus on protein synthesis), imaging (confocal, live imaging, light sheet microscope and super resolution), mouse models of regeneration and behaviour assays. The selected candidate will be in charge of the identification of proteome and phosphoproteome changes in the DRG neurons after lesion and upon the specific modulation of our identified candidates. He/She will validate these results and their implication in neuroprotection and regeneration both in CNS and PNS. Qualifications: Mouse handling, histology (cryostat sectioning, immunostaining) and molecular biology and being a great team player. Additional but no mandatory skills: mouse surgery will be a plus (but no worries we provide training on site) and bioinformatics. Work environment: The team and the institute offer perfect environment to develop postdoctoral project. The Grenoble Institute of Neuroscience is an internationally recognized institute with more than 200 people dedicated to understand the nervous system from the molecules to integrated systems. We provide state of the art cores facilities (imaging, viral core, animal facility) and mentoring for career development. The lab is located within mountains: all ski and hiking lovers will thrive in Grenoble. We are 3h away from Paris by train and 3h away from Marseille and the Mediterranean Sea. Excellent environment for life-work balance
