DETAILS OF THE OFFER

Working place:  ICM - Paris Brain Institute

Missions:

Dr. Sara Bizzotto (PI) at Inserm, Paris Brain Institute (France) is recruiting a postdoctoral
researcher. The position is fully funded by an ERC starting grant for a duration of 3(+1) years.

The goal of the project is to study cell lineages in the human central nervous system. Recent work has shown that each cell in the human body has a unique DNA that carries hundreds to thousands of somatic mosaic mutations. Some of these mutations occur in progenitor cells during development, and are passed to the progeny thus, functioning as markers of cell lineages that are embedded in human tissues.

The PI has extensive experience in neurodevelopment, neurogenomics, somatic mosaicism and lineage tracing (Bizzotto et al., Science 2021; Bizzotto and Walsh, Nat Rev Neurosci 2022). The recruited postdoc will study cell lineages mainly in post-mortem human tissue by applying histology, imaging, flow-cytometry, cutting-edge methods for bulk and single-cell sequencing, and multi-omics.

Qualifications:

Candidates should have a competitive track record and a strong interest in neurodevelopment and neurogenomics. Past experience in genetics/genomics, and/or molecular and cell biology is preferred. The project involves the generation of a considerable amount of sequencing data (DNA and RNA). Although the postdoc will be assisted by a computational biologist, as well as a bioinformatic/data analysis facility, the candidate should possess some computational skills (Python and/or R). English is the working language, proficiency in French is not a requirement.
