DETAILS OF THE OFFER | Working place: CNRS / ISensation, Perception, and Movement Team of the new Center for Research in Psychology and Neuroscience (CRPN) in Marseille Missions: According to current models of motor control, the brain uses internal models capable of performing the complex calculations necessary to grasp the relationship between the context in which the movement is produced and the effect of motor commands on the arm (Wolpert & Flanagan 2001). Gravitational force is a critical contextual element that the brain must take into account to coordinate arm movements in a precise and secure manner. In this framework, movement optimization relies on using gravity to facilitate the acceleration of downward movements, while braking upward ones, in accordance with the principle of effort minimization. In this thesis, we will investigate the sensory bases of this movement optimization by determining their functions in the preparation and execution of movements with different orientations relative to the gravitational vector. These studies will use electroencephalography and kinematic analysis of movement.
