Texte de l'offre | The team NutriPsy (Nutrition and Neuropsychiatric symptom dimensions) from NutriNeuro laboratory in Bordeaux Neurocampus, is looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to work on a clinical project aiming to study the effects of nutritional interventions on mood.
Major depressive disorder (MDD) represent a major public health concern with steadily rising prevalence, notably in patients suffering from medical conditions associated with low-grade chronic inflammation. While advances have been made in MDD treatment, a large proportion of patients does not respond to conventional antidepressants, highlighting the need to identify new therapeutic strategies. In that context, mounting evidence suggests that nutritional interventions using nutrients and plant extracts with bioactive properties increasingly appear as promising alternatives. In line with this, the present project aims to test whether saffron, which has been shown to display both neuromodulatory and immunomodulatory properties, could be a good candidate. The recruited post-doc will be specifically involved in a clinical study dedicated to assess the impact of a supplementation with bioactive saffron extracts on mood and to identify underlying biological correlates, by particularly focusing on inflammation based on its role in MDD pathophysiology. This study is part of a larger collaborative project whose final goal will be to provide new insights on the treatment of MDD and to valorize saffron as sustainable innovative sources for the development of high added-value food products.
The position is funded by an international ANR (French National Research Agency) grant for 18 months, with possibilities of extension. In addition, the successful candidate will be encouraged and guided to apply for additional funding opportunities. Salary will be commensurate to previous experience and in line with INRAE guidelines. The candidate will benefit from the support of the dynamic team NutriPsy, which includes clinicians and neurobiologists grouped together to conduct highly translational and multidisciplinary research. Moreover, the NutriNeuro laboratory is member of the Neuroscience Department of Bordeaux University, which encompasses state-of-art core facilities and offers an exceptionally rich international scientific environment.
