DETAILS OF THE OFFER

The laboratory of Pathophysiology and Genetics of Neuron and Muscle (PGNM) is opening a group leader position in Lyon, France. The laboratory is a recently established institute that hosts 11 research groups and 150 people using animal (mouse and zebrafish) as well as human iPS-derived multicellular model systems to conduct multidisciplinary research from genes to physiological functions. Our primary research focuses on understanding the cell biology of striated muscles and the nervous system, spanning from development to aging, including aspects of epigenetic regulation under both normal and pathological conditions.
The laboratory benefits from the integration of cutting-edge fundamental research teams and renowned clinicians. PGNM has close ties with clinical neurology, rehabilitation, cardiology and genetics departments, and the teams have privileged access to large collections of samples from patients with neuromuscular, neurological and cardiac diseases.
PGNM teams have access to state-of-the-art facilities in-house (sfrsantelyonest.univ-lyon1.fr). This includes a microscopy platform equipped with light (confocal, two-photon, PALM/STORM, 3D-STED, light sheet…) and electron microscopy, a physiology/electrophysiology facility providing in vivo and ex vivo neuromuscular, cardiac and metabolic characterization of animal models, a genomic/transcriptomic platform, as well as mouse and zebrafish facilities.
Lab space will be available from January 2025. We welcome applications from enthusiastic, committed and creative candidates working in fields related to PGNM’s interests and motivated by innovative approaches.
Capacity and willingness to join in with a cohesive and supportive mindset, and to establish and develop collaborations with the other teams and respective fields of expertise available in PGNM will be strongly appreciated. Researchers who already hold permanent positions in France are also encouraged to apply.
Candidates should meet the criteria to compete for national and international funding. If they do not already hold a permanent position, they should be eligible for CNRS or Inserm research positions. Newly recruited group leaders will benefit from a stimulating research environment and comfortable laboratory space.
The application should be addressed to PGNM Direction (direction-pgnm@univ-lyon1.fr, subject:
PGNMcall2024), and should include a motivation letter, a research project (2 pages), a full CV and the
contact details of 3 professional references.
Pre-selected candidates will be invited to present a seminar and will be interviewed by the scientific advisory board.
