Details of the offer
Responsibilities
This position is part of the ANR-funded project Light Coherence (AAPG 2024), which aims to determine how light exposure optimizes wakefulness and sleep-related behaviors in diurnal and nocturnal species by maintaining patterns consistent with circadian synchronization.
Activities
Under the supervision of the project leader, the postdoctoral researcher will develop and implement the research program. Responsibilities include planning and conducting experiments (implant surgeries, sleep recordings, signal analysis, and sleep scoring) in transgenic mice and grass rats.
The candidate will collect, analyze, and interpret data; conduct literature reviews; monitor methodological developments; present results within the team and at scientific conferences; and publish research findings. Existing methodologies are available within the team, and the successful applicant will collaborate closely with team members while working independently when required.
Required Skills
• Ph.D. in Neuroscience
• Certification in animal experimentation and surgery
• Experience with rodent experiments and brain surgery
• Expertise in EEG analysis and sleep scoring
• Knowledge of Matlab, Python, R, or similar programming languages (desirable)
• Proficiency in statistical analysis
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Good command of English
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Work Environment
The successful candidate will join the Waking Team at the Lyon Neuroscience Research Center (CRNL, CH Le Vinatier site, Bron). CRNL is a multidisciplinary neuroscience research unit (Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 - CNRS - INSERM) with over 450 staff members.
The team investigates the mechanisms regulating wakefulness and sleep disorders through basic and translational research, with a particular focus on histaminergic and orexinergic
systems, neuroglial signaling, circadian and light-controlled processes, and sleep-related pathologies.
Application
Applications should include:
• A cover letter describing research interests and long-term goals
• A CV detailing technical skills and major achievements
• Contact information for a referee able to provide a recommendation letter
